Close a Quiz or Form, Set a Close Date, or Cap Responses | Uplup

A quiz or form can stop taking responses in three ways: you switch it off, it closes on a date and time you set, or it closes once a number of responses is in. A closed quiz keeps its link and every response you already collected. Takers who open the link see your closed message instead of the questions.

Close by hand from the dashboard

• Open the dashboard and click the three dots on the quiz or form.
• Choose Stop accepting responses. The row moves under Finished with a Closed badge.
• To open it again, click the three dots and choose Accept responses again.

Set a close date, a response cap or a closed message

Open the quiz or form in the builder and click Responses & security in the left panel. The Accepting responses block sits at the top:

• Accepting responses: the same switch as on the dashboard.
• Close automatically on: a date and time. Times use the time zone shown under the field.
• Stop after: a number of responses. The quiz closes as soon as that many responses are in, counting every accepted response.
• Message when closed: the text takers see. Leave it empty for the default, which is “This quiz is closed. Thanks to everyone who took part.” on quizzes and “This form is closed. Thanks to everyone who responded.” on forms.

Changes save with the rest of the quiz.

What takers see

• A closed page with your message. There is no lead capture and no result.
• Anyone who was part way through when the quiz closed cannot submit; the closed message appears when they try.
• Your own test mode link shows the closed page too, so you can check the message.

What closing does not change

• The link and the embed keep working; they show the closed page.
• Responses, results and analytics stay where they are.
• The quiz stays on the dashboard. To tidy it away, use Archive in the same three-dot menu; archived quizzes stay open to takers unless they are also closed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reopen a closed quiz?

Yes. Switch Accepting responses back on, clear the close date, or raise the cap.

Does the cap count test responses?

No. Test mode records nothing, so only real responses count.

What happens to paid forms?

A closed form does not take payments either; the closed message shows before any payment step.
