Scoring Modes Overview

When creating a quiz, you select a scoring mode that determines how results are calculated and displayed. All quizzes use the same builder – the scoring mode just changes how answers are evaluated.

Points Mode

Display the total points earned out of the maximum possible points.

How It Works

  • Correct answers earn full points
  • Results show: “You scored 8/10 points”
  • A circular progress indicator displays the percentage visually

Best Use Cases

  • Trivia quizzes
  • Gamified learning
  • Fun engagement quizzes
  • Leaderboard competitions

Recommended Settings

  • Enable instant feedback to show correct answers after each question
  • Create result pages with fun messages for different score ranges
  • Enable retakes for engagement

Percentage Mode

Display the score as a percentage of total possible points.

How It Works

  • Score calculated as: (points earned / total points) × 100
  • Results show: “You scored 80%”
  • Also shows point breakdown: “8/10 points”

Best Use Cases

  • Knowledge assessments
  • Training evaluations
  • Academic-style tests
  • Standardized comparisons

Pass/Fail Mode

Display a binary pass or fail result based on a threshold score.

How It Works

  • Set a passing threshold (e.g., 70%)
  • Scores at or above threshold: “PASSED” (green badge)
  • Scores below threshold: “FAILED” (red badge)
  • Score percentage is still shown alongside the pass/fail badge

Configuring Pass/Fail

  1. Select “Pass/Fail” as the scoring mode
  2. Set the Passing Score threshold
  3. Choose whether to set it as a percentage or point value
  • What to capture: The Scoring settings with Pass/Fail mode selected.

Best Use Cases

  • Certification exams
  • Compliance training verification
  • Qualification screening
  • License/permit requirements

Recommended Settings

  • Hide correct answers to prevent sharing
  • Limit retake attempts
  • Add a cooldown period between attempts
  • Create separate result pages for pass vs. fail outcomes

Personality Mode

Match quiz takers to outcomes based on their answer patterns – no right or wrong answers.

How It Works

  1. Define personality types/outcomes (e.g., “The Adventurer”, “The Analyst”)
  2. For each question, map each answer option to a personality type
  3. Each answer adds +1 to its mapped personality type
  4. Quiz taker sees the outcome with the highest total

Setting Up Personality Types

  1. Select “Personality” as the scoring mode
  2. Click “Add Personality Type”
  3. For each type, enter:
    • Name (e.g., “The Explorer”)
    • Description (shown on results)
    • Color (for visual identification)
    • Image (optional)
  4. Create 2-8 personality types
  • What to capture: The Personality mode configuration showing defined personality types.
  • Show: A list of personality types with their names, colors, and “Add Personality Type” button.

Mapping Answers to Personalities

  1. Select a question in the builder
  2. In the right panel, find “Answer Mapping”
  3. For each answer option, select which personality type it maps to
  4. Repeat for all questions

Best Use Cases

  • “What type of X are you?” quizzes
  • Product recommendation finders
  • Career assessments
  • Learning style identification
  • Lead generation with segmentation
