Hackathon Registration

Ten fields and roughly 5 to 7 minutes per participant: that is the entire cost of getting clean, sortable hackathon signups. This template runs as a cover page, two content pages, and an ending page, and it was built for one specific job, described right in its own summary: organizing hackathon teams with skill profiles, technology stacks, and challenge preferences.

Skill levels, stacks, and team status in one pass

The required core is short. Participants give a name and email, pick an experience level on a four-step scale from Beginner (0-1 years) to Expert (5+ years), and check every technology they can actually ship with: JavaScript and TypeScript, Python, React, Vue or Angular, mobile, AI and machine learning, or cloud and DevOps. A required radio asks the question every organizer needs answered early, "Do you have a team?", with a plain "No, looking for a team" option for solo entrants.

Four optional fields round it out: a team name for groups that already exist, a t-shirt size, a GitHub or portfolio URL, and an open textarea asking what project idea the participant is considering. Everyone also picks a challenge track preference from five options: FinTech, HealthTech, EdTech, Sustainability, or Open Innovation.

From a pile of signups to balanced teams

Responses land in Uplup's analytics with per-question breakdowns, so you can see at a glance how many Python people you have versus how many mobile developers, and how lopsided your track preferences are before you finalize challenges. Filtering the "looking for a team" group by complementary stacks beats random assignment, and it takes minutes instead of a frantic morning-of scramble.

When you need the data elsewhere, export everything to CSV or push each new signup to your own tools through webhooks and Zapier. T-shirt counts, catering numbers, and per-track capacity all come out of the same dataset, so one form feeds logistics as well as team formation.

Rework it for your own event

Every field and option list is editable. Swap Sustainability for a sponsor's track, add a dietary question, or cut the optional fields to speed things up. The template recommends conversational mode, one question at a time with a progress bar and back navigation, which suits a form that asks people to assess their own skills honestly. Add your event's colors and logo, then share the finished form by link or QR code, embed it on your event site, or drop it into WordPress with the Uplup plugin's shortcode.
