13-Question Horse Quiz: Biology, Breeds, and Racing Records

Takers pick the true draft breeds out of a lineup holding the Clydesdale, Percheron, Shire, Arabian, and Shetland, then face the question of which equine is considered the only truly wild horse never domesticated by humans. Plenty of people confidently answer mustang. The correct pick is Przewalski's horse, and the explanation notes that mustangs and brumbies are feral descendants of escaped domestic stock.

The horsemanship and history questions reward actual time spent around horses. There are items on the four natural gaits in speed order, why height is measured at the withers instead of the head, what separates a pony from a horse (mature height under 14.2 hands, not age), the tooth-checking origin of "don't look a gift horse in the mouth," and Secretariat's 1973 Belmont, won by roughly 31 lengths in a time that still stands as the track record.

Stables, pony clubs, and 4-H chapters

Boarding stables and riding schools use it as a rainy-day activity or a client night icebreaker, since the questions about blind spots and colic pull double duty as informal safety education. Pony club and 4-H leaders run it at meetings to see where their juniors stand before a knowledge bowl or a rating.
