Film Festival Submission

"Is this a premiere?" It is the last of the 13 questions on this template, and for a programmer it might be the most important one. Entrants choose World Premiere, National Premiere, or Not a Premiere, so before you have watched a single frame you know which films you can actually announce as firsts.

From film title to screener password, in a deliberate order

The form runs across five pages so filmmakers are never staring at one endless scroll. It opens with the film title, the director's name, an email, and a phone number, then moves into the details that decide eligibility: a Film Category dropdown separating Feature Film (60+ min) entries from Short Film, Documentary, Animation, and Experimental work, plus Runtime in minutes, Year of Completion, and Country of Origin. A required Film Synopsis gives your screening committee context before anyone presses play.

Screening access is handled the way festivals actually work now. A required Screener Link field takes the private Vimeo or streaming URL, and an optional Screener Password field sits right beside it, so filmmakers never have to make their work public just to enter. A slot for the film poster and stills covers your marketing needs, and a payment page sits near the end to take the entry fee. All told, entrants should budget 15 to 20 minutes.

Who tends to run entries through it

Small and mid-size festivals are the obvious fit: the ones where the programming team is three people and the entries used to arrive as email attachments with missing runtimes. University film programs use it for end-of-year showcases, and arts nonprofits use it for themed short competitions where the category list needs a rewrite anyway. However entries arrive, they land in one response table you can read question by question, export as a CSV for the jury, or push to other tools through webhooks and Zapier.

Bend the rulebook to your festival

Every field, option, and page is editable. Rename the categories, swap the premiere options for your own definitions, rewrite the synopsis prompt, or delete the payment page entirely if your festival charges nothing. You'll need a Pro plan to open the template, and from there you can add your festival's logo and colors, then share the finished form as a link or QR code, embed it on your site, or drop it into WordPress with the Uplup plugin shortcode.
