Quiz Settings - Complete Reference Guide

Configure your quiz behavior with the Quiz Settings modal. Control scoring mode, time limits, question behavior, and retake policies all from one convenient location.

Accessing Settings

Quiz settings are accessed via the “Quiz Settings” dropdown in the top-right of the Edit tab:

Open your quiz in the builder
Click the “Quiz Settings” dropdown (displays your quiz type, e.g., “Personality Quiz Settings”)
The Quiz Settings modal opens with 5 tabs: Scoring, Timing, Behavior, Results (scored quizzes only), and Retakes

Scoring Tab

Configure how your quiz calculates and displays scores.

Scoring Mode

Choose how scores are determined:

Personality Quiz – Match users to personality types based on their answers
Scored Quiz – Calculate points based on correct answers
Assessment – Evaluate knowledge with detailed feedback

Click “Change” to switch between scoring modes.

Personality Types (Personality Quiz)

For personality quizzes, define the possible results users can get:

Click “+ Add Type” to create a new personality type
Give each type a name and description
Assign answer choices to personality types in question settings

Timing Tab

Control time limits for your quiz.

Time Limits

Enable time limit – Add a countdown timer to the quiz
Set total quiz duration (minutes and seconds)
Choose what happens when time runs out (auto-submit or warning)

Behavior Tab

Configure how questions behave during the quiz.

Quiz Behavior Options

Randomize question order – Shuffle questions each time the quiz is taken
Randomize answer options – Shuffle the order of answer choices
Show question numbers – Display “Question 1 of 10” style numbering
Allow skipping questions – Let users skip and return to questions later
Allow going back to previous questions – Enable back navigation
Show progress bar – Display visual progress indicator

Results Tab

Note: The Results tab only appears for Scored Quiz and Assessment modes. It is not available for Personality Quizzes, which use personality type matching instead of scores.

Control what information users see after completing the quiz.

Results Display Options

Show final score – Display the user’s total points earned (e.g., “8 out of 10”)
Show percentage – Display the score as a percentage (e.g., “80%”)
Show answer explanations – Reveal explanations for each question after submission
Show detailed question breakdown – Display a question-by-question review showing which answers were correct or incorrect

These options help users understand their performance and learn from their mistakes.

Retakes Tab

Control whether and how users can retake the quiz.

Retake Policy

Allow unlimited retakes – Users can take the quiz as many times as they want
Limit retakes – Set a maximum number of attempts
No retakes – Users can only take the quiz once

Retake Options

Waiting period – Require time between attempts
Show previous score – Display past results to returning users
Reset progress – Clear previous answers on retake

Design, Integrations & Security

In addition to the Quiz Settings modal, the quiz builder has three buttons for other settings:

Design – Customize colors, fonts, themes, and finish page styling
Integrations – Connect to CRMs, analytics, payments, and scheduling tools
Security – Set submission limits, spam protection, and location restrictions
