How Email Integrations Work
Uplup connects to external email marketing platforms to handle email notifications and automations. When someone submits your form:
- Form data is sent to your connected email service(s)
- The subscriber is added to your specified list/audience
- Your email service handles any automations (welcome emails, sequences, etc.)
This approach lets you use the full power of dedicated email platforms for automations, templates, and deliverability.

Connecting an Email Service
First, connect your email service at the account level:
- Go to your Brand Settings
- Click “Integrations”
- Find your email platform and click “Connect”
- Enter your API key or authorize via OAuth
- Click “Save” to complete the connection

- Show: Platform logos (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, etc.) with “Connect” buttons.
Finding Your API Key
Each platform has API keys in different locations. Generally:
- Mailchimp: Account → Extras → API Keys
- Klaviyo: Settings → API Keys
- ConvertKit: Settings → Advanced → API
- MailerLite: Settings → Integrations → API
Enabling Integrations Per Form
After connecting a service, enable it for specific forms:
- Open your form in the builder
- Go to the “Integrations” tab
- Find your connected email service
- Toggle it ON
- Select the list/audience to add subscribers to
- Map form fields to your email platform’s fields (optional)

- Show: A connected service (e.g., Mailchimp) with toggle ON, list selector dropdown, and field mapping options.
Setting Up Email Automations
Email automations (welcome emails, drip sequences, notifications) are configured in your email platform, not in Uplup.
Common Automation Workflows
Welcome Email to Form Submitters
- In your email platform, create an automation triggered when a subscriber joins your list
- Add a “Send Email” action with your welcome message
- New form submissions automatically trigger this email
Notification to Your Team
- Create an automation triggered on new subscriber
- Add a “Notify” or “Send Internal Email” action
- Enter your team’s email address
Email Sequence/Drip Campaign
- Create a multi-step automation
- Add delays between emails (e.g., Day 1, Day 3, Day 7)
- Each form submission starts the subscriber on the sequence
