The Knitting Factory in Reno, Nevada books acts ranging from Hank Williams III / Assjack to Blasphemous Creation to Michael Franti & Spearhead. This joint is top notch, has a bar and restaurant, and an energetic mosh pit. The Knit provides catered private events, HD filming for bands who so request, and an all round professional atmosphere. There's an alley in back for smoking/socializing, even checking out the place for future reference. Videotaping by audience members is not allowed, however exceptions are made for, for example, family of band members. Bands can set up a merchandise table near the door, and dependably sizeable crowds don't get much better than the Knit. Security is alert and polite (not necessarily a given at many venues). Acoustics/engineering is good, and the soundboard folks have been known to provide band family members a CD of the concert, which is pretty damn cool! The amenities of downtown Reno are literally next door to the Knit, including gaming hotel/casinos, lounge acts, and even some stiff competition (Silver Legacy Showroom).
